Ube Industries, Ltd. today announced that the Chemicals Company had received notification of ISO 9001 certification registration dated July 30, 2019. Until now, the Chemicals Company has been working to reacquire certification after Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA) had partially withdrawn the ISO 9001 certification for the Chiba Petrochemical Factory and Ube-Maruzen Polyethylene Co., Ltd.
The Chemicals Company received notification dated April 17, 2018 of the partial withdrawal of the scope of certification, and the suspension of the overall scope of certification following the reduction of the scope of certification, for the Ube Chemical Factory, Sakai Factory, and Ube-Fujimagari Factory. In response, the Chemicals Company has been implementing improvements, and the suspension of the overall scope of certification following the reduction of the scope of certification was rescinded on October 15, 2018. With the reacquisition of certification dated July 30, 2019, all ISO 9001 certifications that were suspended or withdrawn are now restored.
Regarding the improprieties in quality checks and the resulting withdrawal of ISO 9001 certification, Ube Industries again expresses its deep regret for inconveniencing customers and other stakeholders. Ube Industries and its Group companies will continue working to ensure the execution of recurrence prevention measures and operation of quality management systems to restore confidence in the UBE Group.
