Participating in the 13th Water Conservation and Forest Maintenance Initiative

Employees from UBE Group companies voluntarily participated in the 13th water conservation and forest maintenance initiative event organized by the Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries Department of Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is held every year at the Akiyoshidai Family Travel Village.

This year, the number of participants and the activity time were lower due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless it remains a very important activity to help maintain the water conservation role of forests. The participants enjoyed fine weather on the day and worked earnestly to maintain this forest as an important part of local water conservation. They engaged in activities such as thinning cypress trees and cutting bamboo.

Purpose of Initiative (Objective)
  • To maintain a forest in a local watershed and to help ensure the water retention capacity of the forest
  • To enable participants to fully appreciate the connection between water and forests
